We conduct seminars for nurses to improve their capacity to identify and diagnose common diseases seen in their community. We find that a growing number of diseases in rural and urban areas are linked to unsafe and degraded environments. There are also many diseases that can be life threatening but that can be easily treated if identified early. We find that it is important to equip those nurses with the basic knowledge that they need to identify those diseases because they are usually the first interaction with the patients. We hope in the future to formalize those training sessions to help the nurses earned credits and be able to obtain certification.
