More than 500 people received aid from Sante Haiti, Soude Haiti and Kick for Christ in Jean Rabel
SanteHaiti organized its 10th annual mission to Haiti in Fond Poux, the 3rd communal section of Jean Rabel, from May 12 to 19, 2018. More than 500 patients were examined. Among the cases that were seen, we had people with various aches and pain, hypertension, diabetes, malnutrition and various infections. Reading glasses and medications were distributed to patients. Young women also received sanitary kits.
This year’s mission was not only about health, but also about agriculture and sport with support from SoudeHaiti and Kick for Christ organizations; they are both US-based humanitarian organizations. Mackley Altema and Rhonda Altema work with their team to distribute seeds to the people of Fond Poux after they have been examined by the medical staff of Sante Haiti. Three members of Kick for Christ, Leo Gibson, Worteh Sampson and Abigail Robichaud, accompanied Dr. Jonathan Philippe, founder of Santé Haiti, to make this trip a reality. More than 100 children received soccer balls, soccer jerseys and other sports equipment. The delegation also included Christy Altidor, who is doing a master’s degree in public health, and a dozen other volunteers from Port-au-Prince.
SanteHaiti, a non-profit organization that was founded in 2008 by Jonathan Philippe while he was a medical student in the United States. It has been two years since the organization began working at Fond Poux (Jean Rabel) after meeting Mackley Altema of Soude Haiti.
SanteHaiti thanks everyone who, in one way or another, has contributed to the success of its 11th annual mission to the country. We take the opportunity to remind everyone that the challenges are enormous. Our plan to establish a local clinic in Fond Poux will not be possible without your financial support.
